Good Intentions, well intended overreaction.

A friend sends you a chain letter that starts "You've GOT to read this!!!!".
You know you shouldn't, but you take a peek and it makes your blood boil, or it is obviously a scam, or it is an embarrassment.

There are three responses that you can take.

1) You delete the offending email and never think about it again.
OR
2) You react quickly and forcefully with a lengthy reply explaining why you were offended by the silly email.
OR
3) You try to forget about it, but you keep ruminating.

If you can truly wipe the slate clean and never think about it and do not let the email change your opinion of the sender then I am very proud of you.

The speedy reaction will make you feel better temporarily, but your friend may not be your friend for very long.

The ruminating will slowly damage you and possibly your friendship.

Let's try an experiment in self help.
These emails were well intentioned. Dumb, but not malicious. OK, maybe some are malicious, but they weren't intended to be malicious towards you.

Your friends have warts. You aren't perfect either. Accept your friends "warts and all".
The goal here is to KEEP YOUR FRIENDS while venting about the dumb email that your otherwise wonderful friend sent to you for your enjoyment.
I realize that some of these emails come from non-friends that just love to forward stuff, but you probably shouldn't hurt their feelings either.

The purpose of this site:
Forward the offending email here. It will appear in a day or so (after I clean out the viruses, email address of your friends, and the history of where it came from).

Come back later and find "that email" and you can write all of your comments, dialog, and rants. Vent away. It will feel good.

Some people will add comments defending the email. At that point it is fair game to tell them exactly what you are thinking, and they will respond. You can do battle with whomever is willing to argue or you can take solace in the fact that some people agree with you. Either way, you are a genius.

Note that your friend has NOT been slammed and is still your friend. You have vented and are "feeling much better now", and you can go back to reading your emails again. Everybody wins.

Some rules:

All discussions have a chance of devolving into name calling. Don't do it. If you accumulate enough votes against you, you will be banned.

No swearing, no sex, no blatant stupidity.
I happen to use ALL of those things in the correct doses with certain company. None of those things are for public consumption. OK, sex could be, but I want ALL offended people to feel like they aren't going to be offended when they come here to complain about being offended and to respond to others to argue why they should NOT be offended, Got it?

If you think that your comment should not have been edited, ask NICELY for a review and ANOTHER deputy will review it and possible reinstate your original post. Sometimes a deputy will react on emotions, we should all understand that, which is why this site exists.
